Germany is famous for it's outdoor Christmas markets.  There are several around the city, many with different themes.  It is fun wandering the city locating the markets while sipping on something warm. A couple favorites include the market at the Residenz and the medieval market at Wittlesbacherplatz.  For a complete listing of markets in Germany go here.

We found this great slide inside a shoe store and took a break from the cold night. We each had three layers on and it was still freezing. You could buy hot wine every 25 feet, but not a cup of cocoa.

The markets sell traditional crafts; wooden toys, nut crackers, ornaments, nativities. It is all very festive.
