Silent Sunday

These massive floats are brought out once a year during Semana Santa to parade around the city. Taken from scenes from the life of Christ they are quite ornate and evoke a certain sense of awe.

  4. I always visit churches when abroad, they are usually much more ornate than UK churches and this one is no exception. That parade must be some spectacle.

  6. Check out all that bead work and silver. So much work in getting those floats created.

  7. Being a Catholic country, the Philippines (my home country) has this tradition too during the Good Friday parade. My uncle owned the St. John statue. We help decorate it to participate in the parade.

    1. That is fantastic. We met the ordinary parishioners who would participated in the parades and I was touched by their devotion. Wonderful celebration!

  10. Don't know how I missed this photo! Love how each chapel is so different and unique. Have a great week and wishing you could have a taste of fall. It is still pretty warm here in Georgia, but the leaves are getting a touch of gold on them and the pumpkin dessert have come into play.
